Description

They rarely make 'em like this anymore. Chibuku comes back again with another knock out round of action across the Barfly’s famed three rooms. It’s chocka block with aural excursions and an eclecticism that only Chibuku can provide, and November truly detonates with this mighty date.

First up is The Theatre, headlined by Robert Hood, the real deal when it comes to minimalism in techno and the founding father of bleak funk. As part of Detroit's second wave he took the techno aesthetic to its most primal and cold possibilities, drawing urbane landscapes with sound and foraging new identities for the genre. Showcasing a deft pioneer, support comes from Chibuku's fastest rising son and the whippersnapper defining Circus right now. The last time Dom Chung and Lewis Boardman played together was an epic four hour haze of Balearic genius in Space's hallowed Terrace for We Love… Ibiza. Expect techno fireworks and sublime house grooves aplenty when they collide once more.

And then onto The Loft. Soulful drum n bass doyens Hospital are in the house, and that means some serious big hitters are joining them. Topping the bill is Radio 1 legend Fabio, a man globally revered for his contribution to the scene and one who continues to set the pace. Expect fierce, relentless deebee. He’s supported by Welsh sensation High Contrast, the man who has taken drum n bass to new levels of musicality and returned the genre to the headline grabbing prowess it endured through Goldie and Roni Size in the nineties. Then there’s London Elektricity, returning to the Shake Shake for the first time in two years, also bring their amazing live show back for a full throttle excursion down the emotional rollercoaster of dnb. And finally comes Logistics, once Hospital’s worst kept secret and now a man who has managed to add a sizeable sense of delectability to the stable through his panoramic productions. The vocal talents of MC SAS and SPMC ensure the rinse is commanded from the off.

The final piece in the jigsaw comes in the shape of the sonic wobble from The Bar. Dubstep hero Benga, the scene leader alongside childhood cohort Skream, returns once more after a devastating debut converted many of Liverpool's clubbers to the wonk back in March. Then there's the fabulously eclectic Sequoia Sound System, Sheffield's grime laden funksters who spin world influences into the dubbed out sonic pot. Bass Camp's Ken Evil joins Buku resident Furness to complete another top drawer offering from Team Chibuku.
