The smartest OXEGEN line up to date was unveiled yesterday -
and it's all based solely on the wisdom of fans''

From the hottest new bands to the legends that inspired them OXEGEN - Ireland's biggest and best music event - never fails to come up with the goods. This year the festival played host to a spectacular line-up of bands and artists - and OXEGEN 2008 promises to be no different.
OXEGEN recognises that our world is a precious place and so is committed to environmentally conscious behaviour. A number of initiatives at the festival help to encourage environmentally positive behaviour and raise awareness of environmental issues. Such positive behaviour begins before the festival does, with park and ride initiatives designed to encourage festival goers to take the bus rather than the car. All those attending OXEGEN are provided with a number of free shuttle bus services designed to ease the impact of carbon dioxide emissions from many cars coming to the festival. In addition to this, festival goers also have the option of taking the bus direct from their local area to Punchestown.
For festival goers who wish to drive, OXEGEN provides an incentive to car share by providing a free car parking ticket for every four tickets purchased.
Event Cleaning Specialists will also be on hand to ensure that as much waste as possible is recycled. They’ll be separating rubbish at source, recycling where possible and reducing the volume of waste sent to landfill. You can help by putting rubbish in the binbags provided by the Event Cleaners at the site entrance and by being aware of how you can recycle your waste.
Podpads are an eco friendly option for those who do not wish to camp,
but still wish to stay in the comfortable facilities in the green campsite,
as they are solar powered by sunflower solar panels.
Campervan and other alternative accommodation tickets
(Teepees, Pod Pads etc) will go on sale in the coming weeks.

CAMPING
Those familiar with OXEGEN will remember the red and blue campsites. Pick your campsite with care and attention as this will become your home for the weekend but you need to be quick as campers will be moved on to the next available area as the campsites fill up. Whichever campsite you choose, you will fall in love with it and proclaim that your campsite is the best campsite. This year also sees the welcome return of the hot showers for the third year running.
The campsite opens on Thursday at 12 noon for those with a Thursday camping ticket. Friday-Sunday camping ticket holders will be allowed entry at 12 noon on Friday 11th July. The camp is open for 24 hours/day until it closes on MONDAY at 12 noon.
Campsite Facilities
Pre Booked TentsReturning for their second year, the Centra convenience stores will once again be located in the red and blue campsites. Festival goers can purchase those forgotten festival necessities from suncream to wellies and everyday goods from hangover cures and water to toothpaste and newspapers. Also available will be over the counter medicines such as paracetamol but prescriptions medicines will not be available so items such as inhalers should be brought to the festival.
Campers can come to the festival without needing to carry any camping gear thanks to Joe Bananas. Simply order online here and pick your kit up at one of the Joe Bananas stalls on site.
Tent Aid is also on hand thanks to Scouting Ireland, who will fix broken poles and equipment in return for a charitable donation. After the festival they will then recycle unwanted tents and send them to a good home.
Campers can bring MP3 players and portable radios that will not disturb fellow campers. Campsite patrols will confiscate any soundsystems so please do not bring them; the festival arena provides plenty of music for all to enjoy.
Yurts, Teepees and Podpads
Pod PadsAlso on site is the campsite for the discerning camper – the green campsite. Here you can find a range of pre-constructed homes for the weekend. From the yurts and teepees provided by Tangerine Fields (www.tangerinefields.co.uk) to the hobbit style podpads (www.podpads.com).
The latest innovation in festival camping, the podpads are cute little houses complete with a fitted carpet, shelving, interior lighting, a power socket and even a lock on the front door. A true home from home!
Campervan and other alternative accommodation tickets (Teepees, Pod Pads etc) will go on sale in the coming weeks. Please Note: Festival goers who wish to purchase these tickets MUST ALSO have purchased a weekend camping ticket.
