Short chat with Jon Rundell
Hi Jon, How are you? Where are you right now?
Good thanks. Currently in New York. I've been on a tour of North America for the last 2 weeks.
How has that been?
An education, its the first time I've toured the country and its been interesting to learn more about the scene over here.
Have you been touring much this summer?
I was based in London all summer and mainly did gigs around the UK and Europe.
What about production wise? Much out, and what is forthcoming?
Currently out is the remix of Devilish vs Roel Salemin's "Manalive" track on Bush, which has gone down well. There is also a mix of Adam Sherdian's "After Dark" too. Forthcoming are releases on Baroque, and Doorn records
You have released some tracks on Paul van Dyks Vandit Digital label – plans for any more releases with them?
For sure, I'm working on a few ideas right now that I hope they will be into.
Regarding record sales – how do you see the future- do you think for labels, Digital is the only way to go now?
Definatly. And in ten years time who knows what will replace that !
Do you find you get to listen to MORE tracks, given the rise in use of digital promos/ drop boxes etc?.. So a good thing yes, this progression to digital only?
Yes, it is much easier to now listen to music from all over the world, which is very inspiring, and it also helps me understand more about what's going on in those countries too.
You have your show going out monthly 'Dirty Disco' on Vonyc/ Tillate – please tell me about the show, what its about, what you play etc.
Basically its an hour show that I either do a studio mix of what's currently doing it for me that month, or a live recording from a gig. The studio mixes will also reflect how I play in clubs as well, Im very hands on as a DJ and the mixes put this across.
Have you any plans to take the show further in the future?
Absolutly, we plan to extend the show, bring in more features and ideas to make it interesting for people.
So you playing at Escape as part of the Vonyc sessions world tour with PvD? Are you looking forward to that?
Yes, it'll be the first time I have warmed up for PVD and Im really looking forward to it. It will be good to see how people react.
What do you have in store for us?
I dont plan sets but rest assured itll be deep and groovy as I'll be on early.
What else have you planned for the near future?
Am about to commence a tour with Cox of Canada, a place again that will be the first time I visit. After this its the gig with PVD then home to some good old fashioned English weather and lots and lots of studio time.
Can we find you in Miami for the annual WMC?
Yes, I really enjoy the WMC as it gives me the opportunity to hear so many other DJ's I respect and admire. See you there !
